Betty Jo Wolf (nee: Salyer), 87 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017, at the Aged to Perfection Group Home, following a long illness.
She was born February 1, 1930 in Paintsville, Kentucky. Betty Jo had made her home in Amherst since 1964.
She was a past member of the Amherst Four Square Gospel Church and later a member of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Lorain. She was a beautician by trade and owned and operated her own beauty shop on Broadway in Lorain. Betty Jo had a strong Christian faith, but was willing to support all faiths. She was known to be very open minded and provided encouragement, love, comfort, and guidance to all. Betty Jo enjoyed Bible studies and working at church camps. She lived a full life and loved traveling the United States, Europe, the Holy Land and Canada with her husband. Her hobbies included needlepoint, listening to Christmas music and reading inspirational and cook books. Betty Jo played basketball in high school and was the biggest CAVS fan.
Betty Jo leaves to cherish her memory, son Shawn Wolf (Sandy) of Amherst; her grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, and Regina Wolf; and her God daughter and God sons, Scott, Rachel, and Matthew Wasilk, and Kevin Eagle. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Herbert Joshua Wolf on May 12, 2011; her brothers, Eugel, Eugene, Harry-Russell, Leroy (Joel) Salyer; and her parents, Rev. Harry B. and Hester Mae Salyer (nee: Sturgill).
Friends may call Tuesday, November 21, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Aged to Perfection Group Home and the Amherst Manor Staff, and the staff at New Life Hospice for the loving care they provided to their mother.
