Clarence H. “Brownie” Brown Jr., 82, of Elyria passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday September 22, 2017. He was born September 18, 1935 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. A 1954 Elyria Catholic High School graduate, Clarence was employed at the B.F. Goodrich Company in Avon Lake for 28 years, retiring in 2000. He was also the former owner of Brown’s Sohio Gas Station in Lorain, enjoyed vintage automobiles, served in the United States Army, was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria and the Holy Name Society of the church and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 774. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dolores “Dee” (nee-Schmitz); daughters, Debbie (Rick) Zarbaugh and Denise (Tim) Pritchett; grandchildren, Dean, Adam and Megan; great-grandchild, Alexander; sisters, Carol Watt, Jeanette Brown S.N.D., and Joan McKinney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Sr. and Mildred Brown and a brother, Bobby Brown. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Specialist 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. A Memorial Mass will be at11:00 a.m. Thursday September 28, 2017 at St. Jude Church 590 Poplar St., Elyria. (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). The Rev. Fr. Frank P. Kosem will be the Celebrant. Inurnment will be at Ridgehill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, where members of the V.F.W. Post 1079 will conduct full military honors. In lieu of Flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Elyria Catholic Dad’s Booster Club 725 Gulf Rd. Elyria or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
