Diane Frances Taylor (nee Wantuck), 74, of Amherst, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at Kingston of Vermilion, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 8, 1943 in Buffalo, New York. Diane was raised in Clarence, New York, before moving with her family at the age of 15 to Amherst, where she had made her home for the last 59 years.

Her primary focus in life was that of a homemaker and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Diane was employed at Bell Services, a division of PC Campana. She was also employed at the Amherst Library for 15 years. While her husband, David was the Mayor of Amherst, Diane was the First Lady of Amherst for 12 years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, where she sang in the choir. Diane was a member of the Twig Benders, the Red Hat Society, the Amherst Historical Society and the Amherst Community Choir. She volunteered her time with the Children's Development Center. In her spare time, she could often be found reading literature to enrich her Catholic faith.

Among those who will cherish Diane's memory are her husband of 56 years, David Alan Taylor; daughter, Lynn Andrews (David) of Amherst; sons, John David Taylor (Kitte) of Bay Village and Robert Cameron Taylor (Katy) of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren, Sarah Andrews, Matt Andrews, Ella Rising (Rob), Rowland Taylor (Elise), Mia Taylor, Tessa Taylor, Kaylee Taylor and Kamerine Taylor; great-granddaughter, Savannah Rising; brother, Ronald Wantuck of Ann Arbour, Michigan and her sister, Jeanette Clotz (Dennis) of Amherst.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James Wantuck and her parents, Woodrow W. and Frances Louise Wantuck (nee Gavel).

Friends may call Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 4 to 8 P.M., at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 22, 2018 at 10 A.M., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. The Reverend Father Timothy O'Connor, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Joseph Endowment Fund, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, OH 44001.
