Donald J. Kavalac, 75, entered into rest Thursday March 8, 2018. 
He graduated from Lorain High School 1961-A and served in the U.S. Navy He lived in Avon Lake for over 50 years coming from Lorain. He was a caster for U.S. Steel at the Kobe Plant in Lorain for over 35 years. He was a member of the VFW Post # 7035 in Avon, held local and district offices including District # 9 Commander, and was a member of the Cootie Pup Tent # 45. 
He is survived by his wife of 51 1/2 years, Beverly (nee Schenker) Kavalac; daughter, Rebecca Canterbury of Westerville, Oh; granddaughter, Leah Canterbury and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anne (nee Yaciw) Kavalac, and brother John Gerald Kavalac. 
The family will receive friends on Monday March 12, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at the Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd. Avon. VFW farewell service will be conducted at 7:00 pm Monday evening at the funeral home.
Funeral service Tuesday 11:00 am at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Bradley J. Donahue, minister of the Lorain Christian Temple, Disciples of Christ, followed by interment at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Ohio. 
Memorial contributions may be made to the James Cancer Hospital, 460 W. 10th Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43210 or donor's charity of choice.
