Doris Ellen (Winter) Getz, 86, passed away on January 20, 2018, at Amherst Manor. 

Doris was born October 25, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA., to William and Marjorie Winter. She grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Germantown High School in 1950. She married her husband Charles L. Getz on October 18, 1952 and were married 45 years, until his passing in 1998.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles and her sister Marjorie Schilling.

Doris is lovingly remembered byherdaughters,Debbie (Dave) Hallof Perrysburg, Ohio; Lynn (Doug) Creager, of Toledo, Ohio; Beth (Jim) Bachna, of Elyria, Ohio; her grandchildren Jeff (Bobbie) Hall, Mandi (Gene) Eddy, Abby (Brian) Creager, Ian (Christina) Creager, Lindsey and Carly Bachna; 5 great grandchildren, Landon, Clay and Harper Eddy and Logan and Austin Hall. She is also survived by her sister Linda (Al) Haynes; nieces Margie Clark, Susan Hoffman and Diane Wagner and nephew Clifford Schilling.

Doris was a member of Old Stone United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where she served on the board of trustees. She was a member of the Lions Club and a member of TOPS. She was a floral designer for Botamer and Jan Terry Florists. She was also a Girl Scout leader for her daughters G.S. Troops. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting, crafting, traveling, camping and playing pinochle with "the group" from church.

A celebration of life, will be held atHempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst onFebruary 24, 2018 at 11 am with Rev. Dan Reinke officiating. Intermentto follow atRidge Hill Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made tothe Amherst Lions Club or Sprenger Hospice Care.
