Edna "Peggy" Pauline Hatten (nee: Lykins), 77 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain.
She was born July 18, 1940 at her home in Kenova, West Virginia. Edna was a 1958 graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School where she had many friends. Many of them became lifelong friendships.
In 1959, she married Jimmy Lee Hatten, who was her soul mate and the father of her three beautiful children. After their marriage, they moved to Ohio where Jimmy became an ironworker/steel erector and they started building their beautiful family together. Edna was a devoted wife and loving mother to her children. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them as well.
Survivors include her children Kimberly D. Sowders of Amherst, Harry J. Hatten (Melissa) of Vermilion and Randal P. Hatten (Franki) of Findlay; her grandchildren Pamela D. King (Justin), David A. Sowders, Jr., Ashley E. Reid (Jim), Hannah L. Hatten, Hunter J. Hatten, Heston P. Hatten and Jimmi M. Hatten; her great grandchildren Ava G. King and Joseph C. King; her sisters Mary A. Secoy (Joel) of Lexington, South Carolina, and Sharon K. Browning (Kenneth) of Barboursville, West Virginia; her brothers Richmond P. Lykins, II of Lakeland, Tennessee and Steve Randall Lykins (Margaret) of Richmond, Texas; and her loyal companion Pippa her dog .
She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-one years Jimmy Lee Hatten in 1990; and her parents Richmond P., I and Betty Frances Lykins (nee Chadwick) and her son in law David A. Sowders.
Friends may call Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
