Helen M. Boyd (nee Turner), 94, of Lorain, died peacefully on Monday January 29, 2018 at the home of her daughter Betty Robbins and son-in-law Barry whom she had lived with the past 6 months. 
She was born March 7, 1923 in Fairview and had resided in Lorain most of her life.
Helen worked at Barnesville Hospital, was manager of Wayne Cleaners in Lorain as well as various other dry-cleaning establishments in Lorain and worked for the Cleveland Automobile Club until her retirement in 1966.
She was a member of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church in Lorain, the Lorain Business Women's Association and NARVRE. 
Helen supported family members in numerous ways, cooking and feeding anyone that looked hungry or visited her. She took care of patients in the Barnesville Hospital that had loved ones in the service and worried about her husband in WWII and her two sons in the service as well. She was known as Mom and Gram to everyone. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, Words With Friends and playing rummy with her family and friends. All of this helped keep her mind sharp until the very end. 
She is survived by her children, William Earl Boyd (Patricia) of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Betty Paulette Robbins (Barry) of Lorain and Robert Clinton Boyd (Shelby) of Cleveland, Georgia; grandchildren, Patricia Spataro (Carl), Lisa Boyd, David Boyd (Denis), Nicole Landers (Mike), Stephanie Chen (Daemon), Cole Smith and Chad Gunter; great grandchildren, Nathan Krause, Michael Spataro, Melissa Spataro, Madison Spataro, Corbyn Bengert, Aiden Chen, Jake Landers and Mia Landers; dearest friend Dolly Rivera and her Pretty Bird who always kept her company. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Earl C. Boyd on November 29, 2002; parents Victor and Vernena Turner (nee Jones); sister Louise Kildow; and brothers Everett Turner and Victor Turner, Jr. 
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 1st from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Additional viewing hours will be on Friday, February 2nd from 10:00-11:00 am at Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Rd, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am in the church with the Rev. Gregory Sellers, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
