Jean A. Parker, 92, (nee Schlachter) went to her heavenly reward on Friday, February 23, 2018.

Mrs. Parker was born in Lorain on November 10, 1925, the daughter of the late Elmer and Laura (nee Self) Schlachter.

She was a 1943 graduate of Clearview High School. She was a member of the high school Drum and Bugle Corps and received several awards for playing the clarinet. 

Mrs. Parker married her beloved husband on June 3, 1944 in Jackson, TN and established their home in Pampa, Texas. She began working as a secretary for the the United States Air Force Air Inspectors.

Later returning to Lorain, she held several area positions including being a medical assistant in the office of Dr. Joseph DeNardi for twelve years. She became first lady of Lorain in 1980. 

She and her husband Bill, retired and became "snowbirds," spending winters at Leisure World in Mesa Arizona. She sang in the Leisure World Choir (80 persons) and for 65 years sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Lorain Light House United Methodist Church. 

She enjoyed photography and traveling with the R.V. group seeing many places in the United States west. She and Bill had the distinction of having traveled to all of the 48 continental United States. 

She enjoyed volunteering with entertainment and photography organizations. In their summers, they spent time at their cottage in Canada, enjoying the scenic surroundings and visits with the family.

She and Bill were married for a blessed 73 years. In addition to her husband, William E. Parker, She will also be greatly missed by her daughter, Denna Parker of Lorain, son Bill (Anne) Parker also of Lorain, grandsons Ryan (Emily) Parker, Andrew (Mairead) Parker and Michael Parker and her great grandson Tobias Parker.

Friends may call on Wednesday morning, February 28, 2018 from 10:00 until services at noon in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44053. Funeral services will then be held at noon on Wednesday with the Rev. Greg Sellers, pastor of the Lorain Light House United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Lorain Light House United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Road, Lorain, 44053 in her memory.
