LORAIN – Jeanne Louise Swaidner (nee: Welker), 93 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015, at New Life Residential Center in Lorain, following a full life.

She was born February 13, 1921 in Fremont, Ohio. In 1921 her family moved to Toledo and Jeanne graduated from Fremont Ross High School with the class of 1939. She had made her home in Lorain since 1968.

Jeanne was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lorain. Jeanne was also a member of the Lorain Community Health Partners Auxiliary and was very active with its craft group. She was noted for her crocheted afghans, knitting, needlepoint and was known to recycle everything including greeting cards. Jeanne had a servants heart and volunteered her time and talents for over forty-five years at Mercy Regional Medical Center (formerly Lorain Community Hospital). Jeanne contributed over 15,000 hours and was awarded for her service from the Lorain Community Hospital Auxiliary, she was also nominated for the Ruth Calta Community service award in 2008.

Survivors include her granddaughter Angie Pytel (Jason) of Hillsdale, MI; her daughter-in-law Bev Swaidner of Tiffin, OH; and her niece Betsy Thraves.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years Edward O. Swaidner on May 25, 1995; her son Jay Edward Swaidner in 2003; her brother Norman Welker; her sister Betty Thraves and by her parents George and Estella Welker (nee: Quidort). She was also preceded by her nephew Bill Thraves and his wife Phyllis.

Friends may call Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church; 5100 Ashland Avenue, Lorain, OH 44053. The Rev. Gary Georgi will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Zion Lutheran Church; 5100 Ashland Avenue, Lorain, OH 44053, or to New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
