Marilyn Marie Koerner (nee Hambly), 81, lifelong resident of Sheffield Lake, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017. 
She was a 1954 graduate of Brookside High School. She went on to attend Ashland College and studied education. 
After two years at Ashland College, Marilyn took a job as a telephone operator in Lorain. She spent a few years in Los Angeles, CA working for Lerner's Women's Clothing and would return to Sheffield Lake where she worked as a clerk at Woolworth's. 
Marilyn's hobbies included knitting baby blankets, hats, gloves and sweaters; she also did cross stitch and embroidery. She was an avid reader of romance and mystery novels. Marilyn was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and had listened to almost every game since 1953. She was known to have an adventurous side, enjoying white water rafting and jet boat rides. In addition, she was an organic vegetable and flower gardener. 
Mrs. Koerner is survived by her husband Edward Koerner, Jr., whom she married, June 2, 1962. She is also survived by sons, Paul and David, both of Sheffield Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mildred Hambly; brother, John Hambly; and sister Shirley Bohrs
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, Friday, November 17, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. 
A private graveside service will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst. 440-933-3202
