Robin Rene Barnes (nee Alten), 61, of Amherst, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a brief illness. She was a lifetime resident of Amherst, born on September 26, 1956.

Her primary focus in life was that of a homemaker. Robin was employed briefly as a bus driver and custodian for Amherst and Firelands School Districts. She loved spending time with her husband working on cars. Robin was known for being a excellent seamstress who made costumes for Civil War reenactments and also did exceptional upholstery work. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her stepson, William J. (Dawn) Barnes of Vermilion; her daughter, Shannon L. Trifiletti Barnes of Lorain; her mother, Marcella Henes (nee Lutz) of South Amherst; her grandsons, Ryan Barnes, Jacob Barnes, Michael Trifiletti, Joseph Trifiletti and Christopher Trifiletti and her mother-in-law, Lois Barnes of Amherst.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Jay Edward Barnes on December 9, 2017 and her father, Gilbert Alten.

Friends may call Friday, February 9, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
