Samuel Rosey, age 85, of Elyria, died Monday, November 20, 2017, at home with his family after a long courageous battle with Parkinsons. He was born December 23, 1931 in Beaverdale, PA, to the late Joseph and Zurie (Hutzell) Rosey. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Lou (nee Edmonson); children, Debbie Stackhouse (Clinton) of Amherst, Sam Rosey (Barbara) of Amherst, Kellie Stock-Jenkins (Timothy) of Elyria and Michael Rosey (Kimberly) of Lorain; grandchildren, Christy (Stackhouse) Clark, Lauri Salib, Samantha Rosey, Nicholas Stock, Donald Edmonson (DJ), Kelly Jenkins, Keith Jenkins, Michael Rosey and Drew Hayto; great-grandchildren, Adyn Stackhouse, Anthony Salib, Alex Salib, Ava Jenkins and Aubrey Hayto; sister Violet Kolson; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe, Herman, Mike, Herb, John, Jim; and sisters, Vern Vernalli, Mary Burkett, Barbara Plishka; and nieces and nephews. Sam worked in the Pennsylvania coal mines before coming to Ohio in 1958. After which Sam worked for Hart’s Construction, Plas Nursery, and retiring from the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant after 31 years of service in 1993. Sam was a lifelong member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Elyria, Ohio. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, along with many years of coaching baseball for his own sons and grandsons. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and spending time with his family. 
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 26, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at The Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral center followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Church, 41295 N. Ridge Road, Elyria, Rev. Donald Dunson, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 N. Ridge Road, Amherst.
