Shirley Mae Lazoff (nee Stewart), 88, passed away peacefully in North Carolina on September 21, 2017.
After high school graduation in January 1947 from Lorain High School, Shirley was employed at her alma mater as secretary to the principal. 
She met the love of her life, George Lazoff. The would enjoy going to Crystal Beach in Vermilion where they met friends and danced. Their courtship lasted two years and they joyously married on August 27, 1950. 
The young family of four lived in Lorain, then moved to Amherst. When the children got older, Shirley worked as a cashier at Higgins Pharmacy, then as a library aide at Marion L. Steele High School.
Shirley enjoyed celebrating her New Year's Eve birthday on December 31 with family and friends. 
George and Shirley happily celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in August 2010, just several months prior to George's passing at age 80. 
Shirley and George's biggest personal accomplishment was raising their children who gave them a tremendous sense of pride. Shirley also valued her friends and loved sharing a good laugh! Shirley's hobbies included reading, gardening, finding local, treasures at flea markets and garage sales. 
She will be missed by her children: daughter, Gayle and David Johnson of Chandler, AZ, daughter, Karen and Rich Milinkovich of Westlake, Ohio, daughter, Nancy and Stephen Carpenter of Wake Forest, NC; and son, Gregg Lazoff, S. Canton, Ohio. Also sister-in-law, Olga Lazoff and brother-in-law, Boris Lazoff. Grandson, Ryan Saadipour and Emily Woodward. Grandson, Nick Saadipour and Jason Perry. Grandson, Chase Johnson and Alaina Elias. Granddaughter, Brooke Bucholz (Johnson) and Tanner Bucholz. Great-grandson, Cameron Saadipour. Niece, Jan Morris (Mitoff) and Steve Morris and family. Nephew, Jeff Mitoff and Bill Roberts. 
Please join friends and family to pay your respects on Friday, September 29 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Redeemer, 647 Reid Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m.
