Wanda M. Hobar (nee Blackert), 84, of Grafton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at O'Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville. She was born January 7, 1933 in Camden Township. She was a lifelong area resident and had resided in Grafton since 1957.

She was a 1950 graduate of Camden High school and she attended Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee for one year. Mrs. Hobar worked at General Industries in Elyria for three years and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hobar was a very active member of Midview Baptist Church in Grafton for many years, where she was involved in the music, Sunday school and vacation Bible school ministries. She also loved sports and she enjoyed softball, bowling and golf. She also coached baseball and softball and started the first Girls Farm Team in Grafton. She was also a dedicated fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Her favorite thing to do was watching her children and later her grandchildren participating in sports and music activities.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Gerber (Wynn) of Grafton and Karen Schaffner (Tim) of Howard, Ohio; sons, Bob Hobar (Evelyn) of South Amherst and Ron Hobar (Linda) of Germantown, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Charles J. Hobar in 2013; twin daughters, Carol Jean and Carla Jo Hobar in 1956; her parents, Henry and Glada (nee Searles) Blackert; her sister, Ella M. Caywood and by her brother, John Henry Blackert.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 5 to 8 P.M., at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd. (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be Monday, July 17, 2017 at 10:30 A.M., at Midview Baptist Church, 36710 Royalton Rd. (Route 82), Grafton. Pastor Tim Mayo will officiate. Burial will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Lorain County-Hospice of the Western Reserve.
