Ridge Hill Memorial Park: A Community’s Living History

Published On: September 3rd, 2024

Do you know how Ridge Hill Memorial Park ties into our community? Many of us grew up visiting loved ones here, fishing in the ponds, and even taking wedding photos on the grounds. Below are a few interesting facts about Ridge Hill.

  • Opened in 1929, the property was originally farmland. The old farmhouse stood until just a few years ago.
  • Several famous people are interred here.
  • We offer themed sections, including Veteran, Masonic, Eastern Orthodox, Last Supper, and Garden of the Cross amongst others.
  • Many species of trees and birds can be found on our grounds. You’ll also find fountains, statuary, a covered bridge, and a wishing well.
  • We’ve always offered more options at better prices than other cemeteries. That includes glass front cremation niches, a first for Lorain County.
  • We’re the only private, non-profit, perpetual care cemetery in the area to be wholly owned and operated by the lot owners themselves. Once you purchase cemetery property here, you’re part of the Lot Owners Association and you have a vote at our annual meetings.
  • We’re one of the last cemeteries in the area to have a full-time office and grounds staff.
  • We complete work orders at no charge to families, unlike most other cemeteries.
